In this satellite session, Love Alliance partners and community representatives will share approaches to community leadership that contribute to reaching the targets to end AIDS. SANPUD, the South Africa People who Use Drugs network will show how global harm reduction training can change policies and practices. The Global Network of Young People Living with HIV will share how communities lead in stigma reduction and develop media campaigns about their reality. Sisonke, the South Africa sex worker-led network, will present how communities influence laws by presenting their strategies towards the decriminalisation of sex work. To demonstrate how participatory grantmaking shifts the decision-making power from those who hold the money to those who benefit from the funding, ISDAO, our grantmaker for the West African region will dive into the impact of participatory grantmaking. Showing the strength of communities in responding to a shrinking civic space, our grantmaker for Eastern Africa, UHAI, will share their response to the anti-rights movement and how this has affected the human rights discourse, and the SRHR and HIV response for LGBTIQ+ persons, sex workers and People who Use Drugs in Eastern Africa.
