This satellite session will explore the concept of global health reciprocal innovation (GHRI). GHRI describes an emerging global health research approach focused on the mutually beneficial, equitable and multidirectional transfer and exchange of health innovations around the world, with a special focus on recognizing and harnessing innovations from low- and middle-income countries. The session will introduce the concept of GHRI; explore barriers, facilitators and lessons learned for implementing a GHRI approach through innovative case examples; highlight lessons from a GHRI grant programme; and conclude with concrete strategies for operationalizing GHRI. The intended audience for this satellite session will be researchers, practitioners and funders who are interested in how GHRI can increase the return on investments in health research and health systems and lead to greater health impact globally.
