Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), including mental health, neurological and substance used (MNS) conditions, represent a major public health challenge for the HIV response. People living with HIV are vulnerable to NCDs and they are increasingly more likely to die from an NCD rather than advanced HIV disease. The goal of ending the HIV pandemic by 2030 and improving quality of life and healthy ageing for people living with HIV therefore demands a focus on NCDs and integration of NCD and HIV services. This satellite will explore: 1) the growing evidence base on co-morbidities and benefits of integrated, person-centred and differentiated service delivery; 2) country examples from LMICs for integrating NCD prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care within HIV health services; 3) global policy shifts and commitments that have raised awareness of this agenda, including the 2025 UN target of ensuring 90% of people living with and affected by HIV have access to the full range of essential health services, specifically including NCD and mental health care.
