Innovative financing has been used for over ten years to address issues ranging from education to employability across sub-Saharan Africa and Europe. Since 2020, impact-linked financing (ILF) has been piloted and tested in the public health space, specifically in the field of adolescents’ sexual and reproductive health (ASRH). Most notable is the world's first ASRH Development Impact Bond, implemented in Kenya by the African non-profit Tiko and its partners, as well as NACOSA’s ASRH social impact bond in South Africa.

The purpose of this session will be to examine this type of innovative financing in the context of delivering integrated and effective HIV/AIDs services. The session will explore lessons from past and present pilots and discuss implications for future HIV/AIDs programming and impact. The panel will consist of leading programme implementers and outcomes payers, including Tiko, the Elton John Aids Foundation (EJAF), NACOSA, the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council and the Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF).
