The relationship between HIV and mental health conditions is bidirectional: poor mental health is a risk factor for HIV infection. While we recognise that important commitments and progress have been made to date to catalyse change and support for the integration of mental health services into HIV programming, challenges remain at hand. This session will highlight how HIV implementers have been able to take advantage of the current momentum and find opportunities and resources supportive of mental health integration efforts. It will also explore the challenges they have faced in designing, operationalizing, evaluating and scaling their work. Global health decision-makers will then reflect upon and respond to some of these challenges from their perspective within the global health architecture. Together, implementers and global health decision-makers will exchange ideas on what can be practically done to better incentivise and support mental health integration in HIV programming.
