Successful delivery of the expanded HIV prevention product (CAB LA & Dapivirine ring) line will require functioning public health systems able to target, educate, generate demand and effectively deliver through multiple channels to diverse populations and support sustained use by clients during periods of risk. Strong, capacitated sub-national public health systems can provide that platform. The Blantyre Prevention Strategy (BPS) - an innovative partnership in Malawi - provides examples of how a capacitated sub-national public health system can facilitate better informed prevention programming to improve access and uptake of these critical prevention interventions. We will showcase how Blantyre is using data for effective targeting of oral PrEP, gathering and utilizing community insights and bring community groups into planning and decision-making processes, creating demand for oral PrEP and generating and implementing quality improvement change ideas for client-centred care.
